Once, twice and maybe
a score,
I gave my heart….
None were malicious,
But somehow,
Inexplicably,
They would,
Drop my heart,
Which shattered,
Then,
On the floor,
They grind their heels
Into the pieces,
‘Til all that was left
Was dust….
I’ve put it back together,
But it went slowly
Using a microscope,
Matching grain to grain,
Until I just finished it yesterday.
I’ve sat,
Staring at it
On it’s pedestal,
Unsure what to do….
A steel box in a
Fortress,
Guarded by a
Dragon…..
I currently have an e-book of poetry being sold for under a dollar for 99 cents, “Conflicts”.
